There's nothing like escaping to a sandy beach in the middle of a cold winter. So if you're dreaming about Punta Cana but don't want to go over budget here are some tips to help you stay on track.
Most of the resorts in Punta Cana are all-inclusive, so you'll have an idea of the total trip cost prior to even booking. A Swoop Getaway booking at one of Punta Cana's all-inclusive resorts include your roundtrip airfare, stay, food, and drinks in the price. Most resorts have set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, usually with a buffet option or a la carte. Alcohol is generally included in the price, save for a few top-shelf items. With all that wrapped-up in your price, all you have to factor in is the cost of tipping, gifts, and excursions.
Whether you're a zip-line kind of gal or an ATV kind of guy, there's lots of fun 'extras' to do while vacationing in Punta Cana. Keep in mind these costs are extra and run around $15 - $200 USD depending on the activity. Some of the cheaper activities are snorkeling or speed boating, but if you crave a full-on adventure, try whale watching or sailing on a catamaran. Factor these outings in to your costs while settling on a budget. Feeling extra frugal? There's lots to do for free around the hotel, including soaking up the sun!
Don't be shy about offering a price you think is fair to vendors. Whether it's a souvenir or public transportation - the locals are flexible when it comes to cost. If that's out of your comfort zone but you'd still like to buy some keepsakes or cigars, try a local supermarket. The prices there are likely to be lower than at tourist traps.
You're more likely to get a great deal from March to November, the off-season to Punta Cana. But don't worry - the weather is still most likely to be warm and wonderful. You may see some renovations happening at hotels during this time, but you'll also have the benefit of not having as many people around the pool.
