It’s #WomenOfAviationWeek (WOAW) and we’re celebrating some of the trailblazing women in our network by sharing their storied careers and passion for the industry.
WOAW is a global awareness week that marks the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot license earned by Raymonde de Laroche in 1910. The goal of the week is to create awareness around the ongoing gender imbalance in the air and space industry and inspire the young women of today to become the aviation leaders of tomorrow.
Length of Service: Started with Swoop in November 2021.
Tell us about your role with Swoop? What does a typical day look like for you? My role of Advisor, HRIS means that I am the maintainer, configurator and developer of our employee software called Workday. A typical day for me involves working with the HR group as well as other Swoopsters on transactions, break-fixes, enhancements and projects in the system to make it as efficient and user-friendly as I can!
What does International Women’s Day mean to you? International Women’s day to me is about acknowledging and celebrating women’s achievements and progress towards gender inequality. It means a lot to me personally because it reminds me how fortunate I am that I have had the opportunities to develop and grow in my career that others may not have had.
Who inspires you? Rosa Parks: Not only because of the massive impact she had by refusing to give up her seat on the bus, but also because of the quiet and subtle integrity she displayed when she decided to stand up for what she believed was right. This inspires me because it shows that it isn’t always the loudest and biggest act of defiance that can make a difference in this world, but simply by not backing down on what you believe in and trusting yourself.
