It’s #WomenOfAviationWeek (WOAW) and we’re celebrating some of the trailblazing women in our network by sharing their storied careers and passion for the industry.
WOAW is a global awareness week that marks the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot license earned by Raymonde de Laroche in 1910. The goal of the week is to create awareness around the ongoing gender imbalance in the air and space industry and inspire the young women of today to become the aviation leaders of tomorrow.
Length of Service: Started with Swoop July 2019.
My typical day: I am responsible for the safe and efficient transport of passengers and crew. A typical day would be arriving at the aircraft an hour before departure time, checking the weather, conducting any preflight preparations and inspections, and ensuring the entire crew is fully briefed on the day ahead.
What does International Women' Day mean to me? To me, International Women's Day spotlights the achievements of women and the challenges we have overcome in changing the traditional role and expectations placed upon us. It was not that long ago that it was uncommon for women to work outside the home, but thanks to those who fought hard for equality, the work force is becoming a much more inviting and friendly place for women, in all areas.
Who Inspires me: I can honestly say that all women who pursue their dreams inspire me. I love seeing a successful woman doing exactly what she wanted to do with her life and refusing to give up no matter what life throws at her.
