It’s #WomenOfAviationWeek (WOAW) and we’re celebrating some of the trailblazing women in our network by sharing their storied careers and passion for the industry.
WOAW is a global awareness week that marks the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot license earned by Raymonde de Laroche in 1910. The goal of the week is to create awareness around the ongoing gender imbalance in the air and space industry and inspire the young women of today to become the aviation leaders of tomorrow.
Length of Service: Started with Swoop on Sept 16, 2019.
Tell us about your role with Swoop? What does a typical day look like for you? As a groups specialty agent, I quote, book and assist groups of 7 guests or more. It sounds easy enough. However, there are so many different hats I have to wear. I am the point of contact for every group reservation- family & friends, travel agents, sports teams, weddings etc. So my typical day is always go go go!
What does International Women’s Day mean to you? For me, International Women’s day is to celebrate, acknowledge and honour all women globally, in history, in the present and in the future. This year’s IWD campaign is to #breakthebias - so this year I will be celebrating this!
Who inspires you? I have been inspired by so many different things, people and impactful moments throughout my life. However, as a first generation Canadian, and a woman of colour - as tough as she is - my mama bear is who inspires me the most. She moved to Canada from the Philippines on her own at the age of 18. She did this to be able to provide a better life for our family. She has worked so hard every day of her life, and although she is retired, she still does what she can to ensure our family is taken care of. I am very grateful to have an amazing human that I can look up too and am extremely proud to call her my Mama!
