Ongoing, extreme cold weather warnings impacting Alberta, prolonged snow and weather events for regions of B.C and forecast of major winter storms in Ontario has resulted in the cancellation and delay of several flights across our network. We sincerely apologize to travellers who have been impacted and understand how frustrating it is when holiday travel is disrupted by inclement weather.
We continue to monitor multiple weather systems and are working to minimize last-minute disruptions and stabilize operations through the holiday weekend. In response to the extreme cold and forecasted major winter storms, some airports operations may be suspended temporarily, and many have initiated departure management programs due to runway conditions and de-icing capacity.
Impacted travellers are being contacted by email and our teams are working to reaccommodate travellers as quickly as possible. Travellers impacted by cancellations will be able to select alternate flights (where available) or process a refund to the original form of payment using the self-serve link provided in the email notification. There is very limited reaccommodation availability due to the high demand for travel this time of year and the significant impact across the industry.
Travellers who wish to proactively change confirmed flights between now and December 29, can do so online at no additional charge by visiting FlySwoop.com and logging into My Bookings.
In the effort to assist those with imminent travel, we are asking travellers to refrain from contacting us until 72 hours in advance of their flight to ensure we are able to prioritize immediate travel support for those who need it.
Those travelling imminently are encouraged to check flight status frequently for the latest flight updates, monitor email for any important updates and use the link provided in your email notification to connect with an agent as quickly as possible.
We understand how disappointing it is when there is disruption to holiday travel plans and apologize for this inconvenience. Q&A
I haven’t been emailed a reaccommodation option yet. What do I do?
We are emailing available reaccommodation options as quickly as possible to all impacted guests, however; due to limited availability of seats these options are limited.
If a flight is cancelled, travellers can expect an email notification. This email notification will either provide the only alternative flight option available or information about the complete cancellation of flight and refund to original form of payment.
Why are reaccommodation options so far out?
This is the busiest time of year for travel. There is very limited reaccommodation availability due to the high demand for travel this time of year and the significant weather impacts across the industry.
Why aren’t more flights being added?
We are evaluating every available opportunity to add flights but are constrained by weather and airport operational capacity. As we are able to add flights, we will inform impacted travellers of availability by email.
Can I change or cancel a flight that is not impacted by these weather cancellations?
If you have confirmed travel between now and December 29,and would like to proactively change to a later date you can do so online at FlySwoop.com by logging into My Bookings.
