Edmonton, Canada's fifth largest city, is home to North America's largest mall, the West Edmonton Mall. Travel with Swoop to the city which hosts more than 40 festivals each year and has North America's largest urban parkland. Feeling outdoorsy? Head to Jasper, three and a half hours west of the city, and visit the Columbia Icefield or take a scenic tour via Via Rail Canada of the Canadian Rockies. Look up into the winter night sky if you're lucky, and you'll see the spectacular aurora borealis.
If you need to get into town from the airport, you’ve got lots of options! Edmonton Skyshuttle provides transportation to and from the airport, or you can catch Route 747, a bus service from the airport to Century Park Station (where you can also catch the LRT). Red Arrow also provides transportation from many surrounding cities.
Once you’re in the city, you can take advantage of their extensive bus and LRT service – you can either pay per trip or purchase a day pass. Use their handy trip planner here! They also have all major car rental companies, as well as Uber in case you want to catch a ride in a hurry.
Take advantage of a free walking tour in the summer, hosted by the Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society, or check out a food festival, concert or movie in one of the many city parks. Edmonton also has over 200km of bike and walking trails to explore, so see how far your legs can take you! Edmonton is also home to a handful of Art Walks, where you can take a stroll and see art in action.
