Orlando travel tips

  • How to get around Orlando

If you’re coming to Orlando to visit Disney World or Universal Studios, you might be in luck! Both offer transportation to and from the airport to some of their resort hotels. There are also many cruise lines that offer transportation from the airport to Port Canaveral. If you’re staying off-resort, there are lots of options available to you. There are many taxi and ride-share services available at the airport, as well as shuttle vans, public transportation, and Sun Rail rail service, which connects to many counties around the airport. Note that Sun Rail does not run on weekends or certain holidays. For full details on transportation options to and from the airport, visit the Orlando International Airport website.

  • How to save money in Orlando

Orlando is bustling with activity all year round, but there are times of the year when it’s a bit calmer – and cheaper. Visiting Orlando in the off-season means the parks will be less crowded, and you will save money on hotels as well. The off-season in Orlando is typically mid-January until early March, and September until early December. A good rule of thumb is to avoid the parks when school is out and try to book as far in advance as possible to save even more.

The Orlando Explorer Pass allows you to visit three or five popular attractions without paying the admission fees. This pass includes free admission to three or five of the following attractions:

-Orlando Eye -Madame Tussauds Celebrity Wax Museum -Gatorland: The Alligator Capital of the World -Fun Spot America Theme Park -SEA Life Aquarium -Boggy Creek Airboat Tour -Ripley’s Believe it or Not!

One last helpful tip: try to book your hotel stay closer to Disney World or Seaworld rather than Universal, these areas tend to have better hotel rates.

  • Things to know before visiting Orlando

In Orlando, it’s important to be prepared for rain or shine every day because you’ll usually experience both! The days are very sunny but rain clouds often roll in in the afternoon. To avoid an embarrassing sunburn or getting drenched in the rain story, be sure to pack a raincoat and lather up on sunscreen. Also, Orlando is not just about the theme parks – although it is the theme park capital of the world, it is also surrounded by nature. You don’t want to miss a tour through the saltwater marshlands or exploring some of the many canal-connected lakes.

It's also important to prepare yourself for a visit to Walt Disney World Resort Florida. You can find important information and a place to purchase tickets here.
