As an ultra-low cost airline, policies and processes are totally our jam. And while we may seem like sticklers, these practices are what keep our fares ultra-low, just how you like them. This is what you need to know before you leave for the airport.
There's a lot to be aware of when travelling right now. Be sure to head to our Travel Ready Hub for the most up-to-date information on flying.
It’s always a good idea to check traffic reports and allow extra time to get through security.
Domestic - Arrive at least two hours before your departure
International - Arrive three hours before your departure
Swoop does not offer credits or refunds for missed flights, optional fees including baggage, seat selection, and priority boarding. This allows us to stay in line with the ultra low-cost business model.
Check-in and baggage close before departure. And we don’t mean kinda close with some wiggle room, they actually close. So if you miss the deadline, you’ll miss the flight.
Domestic – Closes 45 before your departure
International – Closes 60 minutes before your departure
Don’t be late to the gate because we can’t wait. The door to the aircraft closes 15 minutes prior to departure.
Purchase ModiFly at booking for the flexibility to make a one-time change of date and/or time to your flight. Changes cannot be made to traveller names or origin/departure locations, and ModiFly cannot be used for cancellations.
Travel can be unpredictable, so it’s always a good idea to have trip cancellation or interruption coverage. This can also cover you for things like travel delays, cancellations, lost baggage, and more.
Before you take off on your upcoming Swoop adventure, we want to share a few important things you can do to make your flight a breeze.
You can check-in on our website up to 24 hours before departure until one hour before departure. Airport check-in opens three hours before departure.

We’re Canada’s ultra-low fare airline, and we’re on a mission to make air travel more affordable. Our goal is to give Canadians the freedom to travel where life takes them.
We do this by keeping costs low and passing the savings onto travellers with ultra-low fares. With Swoop you only pay for what you need, and nothing you don’t.
When it comes to air travel, one size doesn’t fit all. Swoop lets you skip a few of the bells and whistles you don’t need so you can customize your flight. This keeps costs low and allows us to pass the savings on to you.
At Swoop, your base fare starts with just the seat. You have the option to pay for what you want and nothing you don’t. Add a checked bag or a carry-on. Select your seat or upgrade to extra legroom. Or don’t. The choice is yours.
At Swoop, we encourage you to bring your own water bottle as some airports have water stations after security. And while snacks are not provided, we have a delightful On board Menu of reasonably priced snacks and drinks if you’re feeling peckish. This allows us to offer base fares that are 30% lower than traditional economy fares.
Swoop offers flights to destinations in Canada and will have more flights to the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean in the future. No boring layovers, no complex connections, just simple, affordable air travel from where you are to where you want to be without breaking the bank.
We never compromise where safety is concerned. Swoop operates a modern fleet of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft. Safe, reliable and fuel-efficient, each Swoop aircraft carries 189 travellers, has 39 extra legroom seats and is equipped with on-board Wi-Fi available for purchase.
We might be biased, but our Swoopsters are the best. Our team is experienced, highly trained, and oh-so passionate about our mission to make air travel more affordable for all Canadians.
If you’ve travelled, you know the drill. You plan your trip, book your flights, question the fare and wish there were more affordable options. Consider Swoop your wish come true.
As an Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC), we put you in control so you can customize your flight and only pay for what you need. A relatively new concept to North America, ULCC airlines have been gaining momentum across the world for years. And now, it’s an option for Canadians.
Backed by one of Canada’s largest airlines, Swoop makes air travel simple, affordable and accessible for every traveller. With a base price that starts with just a seat, we’ve created an à la carte service that puts you, the traveller, in the driver seat. You can add a snack, checked baggage or in-flight Wi-Fi at an additional cost; it’s your choice.
The fare is lower while flying a safe, comfortable fleet. To make the ULCC model work, we’ve standardized plane sizes, seating configurations and flight patterns and kept the bells and whistles at airports to a minimum.
