The Art Gallery of Alberta is located at the heart of downtown on Sir Winston Churchill Square and houses contemporary art for the general public. This magnificent building has stainless steel bends and designed to allow for plenty of natural light.
Nearby is the outdoors Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market on 104 Street where you can hear live music performances, meet local farmers, purchase from artisans, eat at a local food truck and grab a bag of freshly popped kettle corn.
In the Strathcona area (Whyte Ave) is Edmonton’s first-ever distillery, Strathcona Spirits Distillery. For $10, you can join them for a hour tour of the distillery and finish it off with a tasting of their vodka and gin.
A 3-minute walk away is Clo’s general Leather Co. and Ace Coffee Roasters. They make handmade high-quality leather products such as the Weekend Warrior Duffle Bag. All products are customizable. Right beside is a local coffee roaster with an industrial open concept space selling delicious coffee and Italian donuts.
Enjoy the views of Edmonton and take a boat ride down the North Saskatchewan river on the Edmonton Riverboat. Also take a ride on the free 48-second ride, the 100 Street Funicular. It will take you from downtown Edmonton to a promenade down the hill overlooking the river valley.
